Hi there, I'm Andrew. A Melbourne based photographic enthusiast.
I love photography and I really love film. I primarily seem to shoot with 35mm and 6x7 120 these days for a couple of reasons.
1 - The process requires patience. Something I don't really have by default! So it's a good exercise for me to slow down and consider what I'm doing a bit more carefully. I get a higher ratio of keepers this way, instead of just shooting and hoping for the best, as often is the case with digital.
2 - Being able to go to the darkroom and complete the image making process is something I love doing. Seems not that long ago I was out on a Friday or Saturday night partying until the sun came up. Now, I'd prefer to spend the time in the darkroom, with some nice music, making prints. After all, photography without prints is kind of like cooking, without the eating :D
3 - Everyone with a DSLR is a photographer these days. I have been into photography for a long time and felt like what I was doing digitally wasn't any different from what everyone else was doing. So going back to film makes me feel like taking the path less travelled.
I am not going to be one of those film shooters who belittles digital and preaches the righteousness of film. Digital is awesome in it's own way, but right now, it's not working for me. To each, their own, right?
If you like the idea of having your images shot on film, and want some help with that, then I'd love to hear from you. Likewise, if you like my digital photographs and want some help with digital images, I'm happy to get involved with that also. I'm not a professional, but I am experienced in all kinds of photography and am always looking for new projects to work on. The only exception would be weddings, they are best left to the professionals and I strongly recommend
doing your homework and getting a good on.
